New Spirit Farm is "The Farm in the City" that provides Equine-Assisted Therapy to special needs children. Equine-assisted therapy provides emotional growth and has been proven to help children to feel and function better emotionally and physically. Equine-assisted therapy builds self confidence, social skills and promotes exploration of behaviors. Horses teach children to understand their feelings and help define healthy relationships without the perceived fear of rejection. Horses teach us to live in the present, embrace simplicity and embody fun.
Our non profit organization is in need of funding and all donations will help the growth of New Spirit Farm. Currently, we only have funds to operate on weekends. If we can open up weekdays, we can offer free services to the public school systems and allow many more children to experience "The Farm in the City". Also funds are needed for the daily operation of the farm. The vet care and feeding of the horses is very expensive. Since hurricane Wilma, we have rescued 2 horses and placed 2 other horses into good caring homes.
